One of the more ‘slippery’ places in the journey to sobriety is between the door of the treatment facility or clinic and the nearest A.A. group. Some of us can tell you that, even though we heard of A.A. during rehab, we were hesitant to go to our first meeting on our own.

That‘s why the program called Bridging the Gap was created. It provides a way you can meet an A.A. member in your home community who will act as your Temporary Contact. This volunteer will take you to up to six A.A. meetings to help you get acquainted and comfortable. During this time you will also learn about sponsors, home groups, A.A.’s Twelve Steps and other aspects of membership.

Your Bridging the Gap contact is temporary only. They are there to support you, answer questions and explain the A.A. program of recovery. They will not provide housing, food, clothing, jobs, money or such other services.

Past experience has shown that attending an A.A. meeting as soon as possible is vital to making a sober transition to life after treatment. Many of us have been where you are and know that the A.A. program and fellowship can do for you what it has done for us and countless others.

Anonymity is one of the most important and respected A.A. tenets. Fill in as much of the information as you are comfortable with and you will be contacted with the name and number of your volunteer Temporary Contact.

TEMPORARY CONTACT REQUEST

I would like to have a volunteer Temporary Contact to act as a link to my local A.A. community through meetings and by introductions to other members.
